Upcoming Meeting on Information Security and Privacy
The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) will hold next meeting of the its Working Party on Information Security and Privacy in Paris on October 18th and 19th, 2004. The agenda includes issues of computer security, authentication, spam, and privacy.
The Working Party will specifically examine recent reports of the OECD including:
- The Summary of Responses to the Survey of Legal and Policy Frameworks for Electronic Authentication Services and E-Signatures. This report, issued in August, is intended to provide an understanding of both gaps and commonalities across jurisdictions with differing legal and regulatory approaches to electronic signatures.
- The Summary of Responses to the Survey on the Implementation of the OECD Security Guidelines, which was issued in June, 2004. According to the OECD, the report sets out the results of responses received from 21 member countries to the "Survey on the Implementation of the OECD Guidelines for the Security of Information Systems and Networks: Towards a Culture of Security", which was issued in July 2003. It is intended to provide an understanding of the Security Guidelines' implementation initiatives in place within member countries.
- A Report on Biometric-Based Technologies, prepared by Peter Hope-Tindall, Director and Chief Privacy Architect, dataPrivacy partners, in April 2004. Tindall's report provides a general introduction to biometric technologies and discusses the various privacy and security concerns raised by these technologies.
